I got tired of being fat and got in shape

This is the name of a Facebook page I'm following and a giant inspiration to me.  The lady whose page it is gained 60 pounds with her first pregnancy and then 40 with her second.  One day she put on a swimming costume and realised how big she was and just decided this is it, she's going to work hard and get rid of it.  She ate clean, and worked out hard - like she said, she took no prisoners and she lost 70 pounds in just 9 months.

Now as I previously mentioned I don't lose weight at rapid pace, I lose really slowly - so there's no way that I'll be able to achieve such a big loss in so little time.  But when I first saw this page, it just struck me - I'm freaking tired of being fat, but I CAN get in in shape.  That's exactly what I'm doing now, and will continue to do, even if it's the last thing I achieve in my lifetime.  It will be my biggest achievement, and I will be proud of my body!

2012 Progress

I started 2012 out on such a big number, it actually scared me.  Something had to be done, and I had to be meticulous about it, monitoring every little thing I put in my mouth, every calorie I burned, every weigh in.  Keeping track of little gains and losses.  Actually quite psycho-analyzing every single detail.  That's what I do... I think there's a little mathematician deep inside of me.

So I kept a spreadsheet, monitoring my weekly weigh-ins, my BMI, my percentage weightloss etc.

I started out at

Weight:  101.9 kg (Being quite frank about it, there's no point hiding behind the truth)
BMI:  A monstrous 37

I ended at:

Weight:  85.1 kg (100g more than what I was on my wedding day 6 years ago, yay!)
BMI:  31.26

Total percentage body mass lost for the year:  16.5%
(I lost my 2½ year old boy's body weight + an extra 2kg!)

I really hope 2013 is going to be a successful year as well! I'm willing to work for it, baby!

Drop it like it's hot!

I swore that 2012 was going to be my year to lose weight and reach my goal weight.  The year carried on and I indeed lost weight and got fit with the help of My Fitness Pal, my kitchen scale, my heart rate monitor, and lots of support from my husband and a few friends.  Things just went much slower than I anticipated.  My body is a stubborn biaaatch when it comes to picking up and losing weight.  I lose at snails pace, and pick up by just looking at something decadent.  By the end of my work year (mid December) I lost a total of 16.8kg.

December 12

(Then three weeks of a wonderful holiday and I picked up 3.2 again.)

So 2013 is my year to carry on and lose some more.  To try and eat cleaner, still maintaining my exercise regime and try to stay away from my beloved choccies and treats as much possible.

My next goal is to get to the *20kg lost mark*.  Right now I'm 5.7kg away from it.

I'm going to drop it like it's hot!  Working hard at it, never mind if it's slow going - it's gone!
